Tinkering Station

The Tinkering Station allows children and parents to engage in open-ended projects and programs. These programs help kids develop problem-solving skills and combine elements of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math). Some programs include the airmail challenge, safe descent, straw skyscrapers and airplane golf.

Every Child Ready to Read

Price: Free, available to parents of children ages 5 and under 
Parents can join POP and Shreve Memorial Library staff the second Saturday of every month through August for Every Child Ready to Read, a free workshop to encourage reading for kids ages 5 and under. Parents will learn to engage with their children through simple daily activities to ensure they are developing early literacy skills.
  Itty Bitty Scientists, Little Learners
Saturdays, 9:30-10:15 a.m.
Free with LSSC admission
Part of our Itty Bitty Scientists series, Little Learners is fun, hands-on science for toddlers and pre-schoolers age 2-5 and their grownups. Little Learners gather in a group to read a story, complimented by interacted activities that follow. Each week, children focus on developing skills like color and shape recognition, counting, and motor skills. Each session lasts 30-45 minutes and takes place in the JPMorgan Chase Grand Lobby.

  Maker Family Workshop
Every first and third Sunday of the month

This monthly workshop gives families the opportunity to engage in activities that challenge them to learn and employ new skills as they design and build a device based on a specific theme.

  Adventures in Robotics
Every second and fourth Sunday of each month; 14 p.m.

Delve into the exciting world of robotics every second and fourth Sunday at Sci-Port. Learn programming skills with our LEGO EV3 robots and practice them using programming software, with Sci-Port staff guiding you as you explore at your own pace. For those not quite ready to make the plunge into programming, Sci-Port offers robotics challenges using remotely controlled LEGO NXT robots for varying skill-levels of robot-lovers.

Celebrate a Scientist
Every third weekend of the month

Free with LSSC admission
Start your very own trading card collection and monthly tradition by being a part of Sci-Port’s Celebrate a Scientist series. On the third Saturday and Sunday of each month, Sci-Port honors a scientist whose birthday falls in that month by providing hands-on science activities based around their research, as well as take-home Celebrate a Scientist trading cards. This series is perfect for budding scientists, children and grown-ups alike!

Library Pass Program 
Through a partnership with Shreve Memorial Library and Bossier Parish Library, guests can check out a Sci-Port membership to LSSC or POP. Visit any of Shreve Memorial or Bossier Parish Library's branches to check out your pass! All you need is a library card.

DeSoto Days
First Saturday and Sunday of every month

Residents of DeSoto Parish enjoy free admission to LSSC or POP, discounted IMAX® tickets and a 10% discount in Discoveries Unlimited Gift Shop every first Saturday and Sunday of the month.

DeSoto Days are made possible by the DeSoto Parish Police Jury.
