2013 Spring Break Day Camps

Sci-Port’s Spring Break Camps are themed and planned to accommodate grades K - 8th. Themes vary day to day, and sessions last from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily.

Drop-off is located inside the Center in the Red River Gallery every day. Pick-up will be available curbside or inside the building in the Anderson Family Foucault Pendulum area.

Monday, March 25: Under the Sea
Members $40, Non-Members $45
Dissect a squid and eat sea weed! Along the way we’ll discover spectacular sea creatures, classify shells and much more. Each explorer will soak up the knowledge of the treasures of the sea.

Tuesday, March 26: Springtime in the Galapagos
Members $40, Non-Members $45
The Galapagos Islands are most famous for the profound discoveries of new and unique species never before seen anywhere else. Learn about the unique species that call the islands home.

Wednesday, March 27: Rolling on Down the River*
Members $48, Non-Members $53
What’s going on in and around the Red River? We will get out the microscopes and explore all forms of life found in our river. We will also be exploring the geologic forces that have helped shape the ArkLaTex region.

*Camp includes a cruise aboard the Spirit of the Red (additional fee included).

Thursday, March 28: Lepidoptera (Butterflies)
Members $40, Non-Members $45
With more than 160,000 species, campers will discover what butterflies have in common with fish and the amazing metamorphosis of their four-stage life cycle.

Friday, March 29: Hawk Talk Camp featuring Raptor Rescue
Members $40, Non-Members $45
Meet & greet with a Saker Falcon, Harris Hawk and Red Tail Hawk. Ask questions of Master Falconer Michael Beran as he tells us about creatures that call the sky home. Meet Xzin (ten-zen), a young Male Harris Hawk, and learn how Raptor Rescue is rescuing injured hawks.
