In partnership with Sci-Port: Louisiana's Science Center and the Fully Devoted Development of Children (FDDOC) Winner's Circle Inc. after school program, Sunset Acres Elementary, Mooretown Elementary and Youree Drive Middle School competed in the Regional Autonomous Robots Circuit competition on May 5 at the Bossier Civic Center.  Sunset Acres Elementary placed 4th place in the elementary division.

Sci-Port and the FDDOC provide after school robotics programming for the three schools on Tuesdays through Thursdays throughout the school year.  The robotics program began in September 2011.  At the last competition held in February, Mooretown Elementary placed 2nd in their division.

The competition is designed to introduce students to both building robots and using cutting edge software to control them and to complete specific tasks.  The competition is meant to develop critical thinking skills, management skills and to generate an interest in technology in elementary, middle and high school students.
