Maker Faire® is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth- a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect, and grow this community.

Sci-Port is hosting the first-ever Shreveport Mini Maker Faire® this fall with co-host Centenary College of Louisiana. Makers from all across the Ark-La-Tex will show their creations, which range from robots to artistic sculptures.

Sci-Port has long been involved in the local making scene, offering monthly Maker Family Workshops and even hosting A Festival of Innovation in 2014, sponsored by Grayson Foundation. Engineering Week 2015, sponsored by Benteler Steele, brought together high school students from the area to create and innovate as they solved engineering challenges. Other sponsors that have made Maker programming possible include Beaird Foundation, National Girls Collaborative, Lego Children’s Fund, Cube 3D, the Louisiana Engineering Society- Shreveport Chapter.

Bringing a Mini Maker Faire® to Shreveport was the next step in providing the region with quality maker programming and encouraging growth in the strengthening tech and innovation scene in Northwest Louisiana. Those who are interested in featuring their work in the Mini Maker Faire® may apply at
