Shreveport, LA (August 16, 2017) - It’s official. The Sci-Port Board of Directors has formally made public their intention to update and revamp Louisiana’s favorite science/learning museum. As part of Sci-Port’s 20th anniversary in operation, the exterior and interior with exhibits will be undergoing significant alterations and re-invention in an effort to keep the beloved facility relevant and exciting.

Members will be contacted by email for next steps in how their membership will be honored after the center reopens.

Planet Aqua Group, the visionary team behind the soon-to-open Shreveport Aquarium, has been entrusted with driving the overriding vision and ongoing management of the site. PAG has already outlined a strategic gameplan that encompasses a venue operations and staffing re-organization, maximizing throughput for the IMAX Dome as well as the museum, plus a major re-branding campaign with a fresh perspective.

With this management transition, the Sci-Port Board of Directors will continue as the governing body of the organization, with Planet Aqua Group as a direct report to the board. While the area will see a “new” Sci-Port, STEAM education and community enrichment will remain at its core.

Sci-Port will remain open and operational through September 4th, when it will close down so that major “magic” and construction can take place. It is estimated that much of the updates will be ready for the annual TOAST event held on December 31, 2017.
