Sci-Port welcomes two millionth visitor!

Congratulations Renee Katz!

The community celebration of Sci-Port Discovery Center's two millionth visitor produced instant razzle-dazzle stardom for one unsuspecting guest, as only
Sci-Port could do it!

With attendance numbers approaching the two million mark, Sci-Port's Visitor Services estimated that the two millionth would arrive for the Friday, April 11th Eye on the Sky event featuring astronaut Duane "Digger" Carey. That evening, as guests began entering Sci-Port, anticipation rose as it was determined that the 15th person to enter the doors would be the one. 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-and there she was: Seven-year-old Renee Katz was heralded with a hullabaloo of horns, balloons and cheering. After meeting Astronaut Carey, and posing for photographs, she then helped make a batch of liquid nitrogen ice cream and was presented with a Lifetime Membership to Sci-Port.

Renee is the daughter of Sandy and Michelle Katz, and attends the Montessori School for Shreveport.

Sci-Port has served interactive science with fun and WOWs to over 200,000 visitors each year, since opening on November 21,1998 - a science and entertainment center on the Shreveport-Bossier Riverfront and a public-private, community-invested partnership from day one. "The honoring of our two millionth visitor is also symbolic celebration of the community that has made Sci-Port possible," said Rebecca Miller, Sci-Port vice-president of community development.
