Scout Days Requires an additional $3 materials and workbook fee; pre-registration is required. Scout Days are themed days designed for Scouts to complete requirements toward earning badges, academic and activity pins or belt loops. PLEASE NOTE: Sci-Port supplies the programs, materials and experts to help in completing requirements towards earning badges -- not the actual badges. Activities will take place during regular opening hours unless otherwise specified.
Due to the popularity of Scout Days, start times and flights will be assigned upon registration to ensure each Scout receives quality presentations that are not overcrowded. Shifts will be limited to 15 Scouts and will start at 10 a.m., Noon and 2 p.m.
- Saturday, May 18: Health/First Aid
Come learn how to care for injured or ill persons until they can receive professional medical care. You will learn first aid procedures for handling broken bones, compound fractures of the forearm, wrist, upper leg and lower leg using improvised materials and more. This is an important skill for every Scout; with some knowledge of first aid, a Scout can provide immediate care and help to someone who is hurt.
Former Paramedic Becca Gerrits will be here from 10 – 11 a.m. to discuss basic first aid. Gerrits has six years experience as a paramedic working for Valentine Ambulance Service and Advance EMS. She has an Associate of Applied Science with a major in Paramedicine and is currently working on a Bachelor in Nursing at Northwestern State University.
