Are you a scientist, STEM professional or STEM enthusiast
looking to share your research and passion with the public?
Become a STEM Communication Fellow at Sci-Port’s
STEM Communications Institute.

Along with your cohorts in Sci-Port’s STEM Communications Institute, you will attend three Professional Development workshops designed to make your STEM topic approachable to the average person. Fellows will also receive guidance as they work individually to develop a hands-on activity related to their current work.

Fellows will commit to participate in no fewer than five regularly
scheduled “Scientist Spotlight” events to be hosted at Sci-Port or
elsewhere in the community. Each Scientist Spotlight event will last approximately three hours, during which you will be given an opportunity to engage the general public in face-to-face, dialogue-driven, one-on-one or small group interaction, centered around your work, your interest and your activity.

Who can participate?
We are seeking professionals, students or enthusiasts from any and all fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

Why participate?
Sci-Port’s STEM Communication Fellows will:
    •   Enhance their science communication skills in a dynamic, engaging and participatory workshop setting;
    •   Develop hands-on educational activities which they can use in multiple educational settings beyond Sci-Port;
    •   Build skills that will enhance future grant applications and professional presentations;
    •   Have an outlet to meet grant requirements for public outreach;
    •   Receive letters of acknowledgement and professional documentation, suitable for reference on their C.V.s,
         for sharing with supervisors and for grant reporting;

    •   Join a community of like-minded science professionals and enthusiasts.

Fellows completing their initial commitment and agreeing to continued active engagement with the Sci-Port public will even receive their own personal “Celebrate a Scientist” trading card!
